Riley Green is taking his seat in the big red chair. The country singer confirmed on May 9 that he will serve as a coach on Season 30 of NBC's The Voice, joining returning coaches Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine when the show airs this fall on NBC and streams on Peacock.

Green broke the news ahead of a stop on his Cowboy As It Gets arena tour at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Georgia. The announcement included a clip of a voicemail from Clarkson welcoming him to the show and promising to "whoop that ass" in competition. Safe to say the chemistry is already there.

Why Riley Green Makes Sense for The Voice Right Now

Green is not a passive name drop. He has four No. 1 hits on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, including "Worst Way" and the Ella Langley collab "You Look Like You Love Me," which became one of the defining country crossover moments of the past two years. He is also nominated for four awards at the upcoming ACM Awards on May 17, including male artist of the year and album of the year for Don't Mind If I Do (Deluxe).

Adding a current, actively touring country artist to The Voice coaching panel keeps the show connected to where the genre is right now. Green is not a legacy pick. He is mid-run, with arena dates, award show performances, and a recent acting debut on CBS series Marshals all stacking up in the same window.

What Independent Artists Should Take From This

For independent artists watching this, the move is worth paying attention to. When a top-charting artist steps into a coaching role on a show this size, it widens the lane for country and country-adjacent artists looking for visibility. The Voice has historically been a real launchpad for unsigned or emerging talent, and a coach with Green's current momentum tends to attract contestants who fit a similar lane.

If you are an independent artist working in country, Americana, or any roots-forward genre, this is a good moment to understand where the mainstream is looking. Coaches bring their audience with them. Green's fanbase skews toward listeners who value authenticity and songwriting craft, which means the contestants he selects will likely reflect those same values.

The show's Season 29 wrapped in April 2025 with Adam Levine's contestant Alexia Jayy taking the win. Season 30 does not yet have a confirmed premiere date beyond a general fall 2025 window.
